The Red Sox and Aaron cook have agreed to a minor league contract, pending a physical, according to Ken Rosenthal.  As long as he passes a physical he is invited to Spring Training.  Cook will be reunited with Bob McClure, who worked in the Rockies’ organization from 1999 to 2005.  Cook is our all-time wins leader with 72.

Good luck, Aaron. You distinguished yourself in Denver but I’m just happy the Rox didn’t resign you as a FA. Last year was just too painful to watch you. We’ll all be rooting for you to make the team and tear up the AL.

Why do the Red Sox keep picking up our cast off pitchers?
Good luck Aaron. I hope you and Frankie have good years.

According to my Red Sox friend, it is because we have no idea how to use our pitchers and we are letting potential aces fall by the wayside from lack of development…he was stoked to get Frankie and I’m sure he will be telling me that Cook is the greatest starter since Cy Young, in their hands that is…

Franklin was used in every potential situation, with a little inconsistent success each time, but each time he subsequently failed. I think the Sox will eventually learn the hard way.

This is where I differ from most Rockies fans. I liked Franklin Morales. jardean, as much as it pains me to agree with a Red Sox fan, he may very well be right. Morales absolutely has the gift and the raw talent. Of late my focus has switched from blaming players to pointing at Bill Geivett and his player development staff.

I know he has the talent, but what I saw was someone that couldn’t handle the pressure of the situation. Maybe the staff was to blame for that? I don’t know. I just remember the game he got called for 2 balks and one wasn’t a balk, but he melted down. It seemed like he melted down a ton. I think that a change of scenery will help, but Red Sox fans won’t be as understanding if he has issues. Especially if they put him in a setup roll. But, you might be right about Geivett. I think we really tried and tried to give him every chance. I wish it would have worked out – when he was on he was legit.

cocky punk?? look, i’m 40 so i’ll take any insinuation that i’m young!

frankie came to a redsox bullpen that had more holes than a practice putting green. the guy has legit stuff… it’s just what’s between the ears that has a problem. he did well for us… no double balks! ;) the Sox has a history of “breaking” arms but we are good, very good, with developing the mental edge of a professional player. that happens when you actually have a budget and can keep guys developing longer in the minors. ;) (not to rub it in) anyway, j-rod my point was not that you didn’t do it well, my point was that in Boston the coaching staff and management don’t throw you into a fire unprepared. typically Tito only put the pitchers in a position that he felt they could win until that mental edge was so good that he could put them in any time. he coddled them… and they coddled frankie. it paid off. i think in colorado at times they don’t have the depth (ie. the luxury… no pun intended) to use them at the right time every time. now bobby v is a different horse, i’ll be interested what he does.

anyway, love the site… love your dedication and fanship even if it is for some sissy ass color like purple! go sox… if they can’t win… go rox! worst memory ever in denver, third row next to my bean town boys (thanks to my rox fan friends) and damn giambi hits a walk-off off Paps! best memory ever… ahhh… i think you all know what that is! ;)

More Hot Stove: “Rockies GM Dan O’Dowd confirmed to Troy Renck of the Denver Post that prospect Russell Wilson will pursue football full-time instead of reporting to Spring Training with the Rockies.”
