1.) SCORING 10 OR MORE RUNS IN A GAME NEARLY GUARANTEES COLORADO A VICTORY (I know this is a “duhhh” stat, but):

Last night’s game was the 91st time the Rox have scored 10 plus runs in a regular season game since 2007 (WS season).

The team is 86-5 in those games.

In 2010 Colorado lost to Arizona (Kelly Johnson 10th inning HR) and Philly, 12-11(weird September make-up game).

And to Boston 13-11 (pedroia 5/5 3 HR game)

ALL AT HOME!

2.) LAST YEAR COLORADO SCORED 5 OR MORE RUNS IN AN INNING 20X

(considered a “big inning” by the PR staff)

The team’s record was 18-2 in those 20 games.

The team scored 7 in an inning 1x (9/6 vs. AZ); they scored 7 last night in the 5th inning.

The club was 1-14 a year ago when allowing 5 or more runs in a single inning.

This year they are 1-0 since SF put up 7 last night in the 4th.

3.) The Rockies are 15-5 all time when CARGO triples in a game; including 4-1 vs SF.

Last night was his first ever 2 triple game.

4.) 8 Rockies had 2 or more hits…5 had 3 hits.

It’s now the fifth time the Rockies have had at least five players with three or more hits . . .EVER

Rockies, 5+ Players with 3+ Hits

Opponent Date No.

Astros 9/25/2011 6 COL 19-3 W away

Giants 4/11/2012 5 COL 17-8 W @ home

Marlins 9/16/2007 5 COL 13-0 W @ home (started streak to ’07 WS)

Brewers 8/ 8/2007 5 COL 19-4 W @ home

Giants 7/10/1998 5 COL 11-2 W @ home

5.) TODD HELTON had his 185th career 3 or more hit game.

The Rockies are 127-58 (67% winning percentage).

6.) EY JR now has 107 career hits;

34 have been infield hits (32%)

13 have been bunt base hits (12%); with last night’s push bunt maybe being his best ever.

7.) The Rockies last HOME win was on 9/11/25…7 months later they win on 4/11/12 @ Coors Field.

Great stuff Marc…THANKS! As some of you know, I’m not a big stats guy, I’m the guy watching emotionally, throwing things at the TV or jumping off the couch…anyway…they posted a stat last night that EYJ already has 50 career steals (if I remember correctly).

So I have a question…how does this rank historically as far as steals in relations to his time of service?? My thought was, wow, for a guy who hasn’t had a ton of time, that’s one hell of a stat.

    Just wondering…

I’m not sure if this answers the question, but Vince Coleman has the record with 110 SBs in his rookie year of 1985. He did that in 151 games, per baseball-reference.

EYJ has 50 SBs in 162 career games. Pretty impressive still, but nothing compared to Coleman.

Man it’s crazy! No matter who the players are they’ll always be the same old Rockies! Anyone who follows this team knew they would struggle at the plate today after breaking out lastnight. Everything about this team is so predictable

Egossage, I agree. What’s really predictable so far this season. If the Rocks make and error (or two) they lose. If they play error free ball, they win. I believe in their two wins they haven’t made an error and in the games they lost, they’ve made at least one error.

And they can’t hit Bumgardner. Have they ever beaten him? If they, it’s been awhile.

I think they beat him a couple of years ago, which surprises/frustrates me that he suddenly became unhittable. Same for Joe Saunders – he went from mediocre to Cy Young over night to Rockies hitters.

I listened to part of the game on the radio yesterday. When Dex dropped that flyball I was thinking it was like CarGo’s drop over the weekend. Well, I just saw the replay on TV. I hereby retract my spirited defense of Dexter Fowler. Feel free to send him to the minors for another basic skills refresher course.

Rockies had chances to win the game yesterday with Tulo coming up with people on and then Cargo and both had horrible at bats. At least Scutaro battled at the end, can’t say the same for the O’s at bats.
