Please have the A lineup in today!!! Everyone got their rest on Thursday!
You wanna win? Put eyj giambi and Herrera in!
Eyj is way better than Fowler! Herrera is way better than Nelson! those 2 deserve to be on e A team!
Lineup: Colvin for Fowler, Giambi for Helton, Herrera for Nelson. Hey, that’s only 3 starters sitting! Progress!
Line-up above. I’ll get chat going at game-time.
There is absolutely no excuse for not starting the regulars today. The forecast is for a major winter storm here and up through Pittsburgh tonight and tomorrow and into Tuesday. A game tomorrow is highly unlikely given all the warnings showing up on TV. Temperatures will not reach 40 until Wednesday. Looking at 2-4″ in Pittsburgh tomorrow. Crazy thing is that we have had the mildest winter in years. I never had my grass completely covered all winter. Now this just as I was planning to drive into Pittsburgh for three straight days. I may get a day/night on Wednesday!
I do like this lineup just wish eyj was leading off
I’ve got my brown bag on my head today.
Lineup looks just fine to me as well.
I don’t think Jim Tracy’s stupid, but he sure is stubborn. Last night he could of used the veteran catcher to work with the rookie. Nope. And as Bob in WV says, the weather is suppose to be lousy in Pittsburgh tomorrow. Helton has hit homers in two straight games, let him play today and rest him tomorrow when they might not play. Of course I am not a firm believer in weather forecasts being correct.
Nelson and Fowler struggled last night so I’m almost ok with resting them. They shouldn’t need rest due to their age though. I’m guessing Colvin has a history with Galliardi (spelling?). Hope it’s good and I hope Tracy has checked it.
I’ve been a big booster of Fowler. I think he has immense talent and I’ve always been the one to give him the benefit of doubt. But I’m beginning to think he just might not be the answer. He’s shown power this year and I think that’s hurt him. He keeps trying to hit homers. He was both a better bunter and base-stealer as a rookie than he is now. Is it him? Or is it the coaching staff? Even in the outfield he seems a little hesitant this year, like he’s thinking too much and not just playing.
Friday night he and Cargo seemed to get their signals crossed on the inside the park homer and last night the same thing happened with him and Cuddyer. Not sure if either or both were Fowler’s fault or not.
However I did notice that on Friday night each of the outfielders used two hands in catching at least one ball. Each of these guys (all who are good fielders) dropped balls earlier in the season trying to catch one handed. I’m 67 and I’m old school and we were taught to use two hands. I know that’s a rarity these days but outfielders shouldn’t drop flyballs.
With the exception of Giambi this should be our starting lineup
Chat is live!
I’m going to slow down on my complaints about the lineup. The stats lines indicate some of those guys sitting really deserve to be sitting.
PS Cargo needs to pick his game up. This full month of April hitting less than .250 and just 1 HR doesn’t cut it for a 3rd hole hitter.
Bill, I can attest that weather forecasts can be pretty unreliable. I decided not to drive to the Penn State Blue-White game this weekend because of the forecast, but it never started to rain until well after the game was done. We have pulled in all our potted plants however.
I’ll post here when the snow begins!
Guys – I’m liking Tyler Colvin! The dude tracks balls well in CF and is versatile.
Bob, the weather channel said they may see up to a foot of snow over there. They already have plan B in place and for all i know they have already cancelled tomorrow’s game. Standard double header is ready to go for Wed
It’s about time JT make the right move – taking out Brothers before it’s too late. Kudos to Matt Belisle! It should be on the web gems. I think I’ll wear brown bags on Sundays from now on. LOL.
I was out for most of the game enjoying this beautiful. Bob from WV you should be here this weekend.
I got back just in time to see Belisle come in. Wow! Lights out! A big win. Is that 3 straight series wins? Keep it up. I didn’t see Guthrie pitch but I guess he pitched well. I did see them add-on in the 9th. Good jobs by Dex, Scuturo and Cargo.
And they might get tomorrow off and perhaps play two on Wednesday. Of course it would be nice if they waited until it really started to snow or rain before calling the game. I can remember more than one game here where the forecast called for rain and they delayed or cancelled the game. And it never rained. Look out the window first.
Yeah, one of those was that stinking Cubs game that they called and it wasn’t even raining…we are on fire coming into Chicago, having swept the Mets (and taking both games during the double-header) and then the Cubs call the game because of rain, but it wasn’t raining at all…we went back for the make-up game and if memory serves we lost it…
I guess we get the payback from when we didn’t call the game Jimenez pitched where it was pouring and it wasn’t called until after it was “official”…
Since I’m a “glass is half full” kinda guy….we’ve won the last 3 series….I’ll take it.
Jim Tracy is my home boy.
ok, that made me laugh
Finally,a reasonable number of subs, not lock, stock, and barrel.I say again that the very concerns voiced here many times made it into another JT postgame by the official press[a night or two ago],and again JT seemed to be miffed.Well,if the press is finally getting tired of the wholesale sunday changes,it seems the criticism maybe having a positive effect.
