The next day hangover isn’t as bad as it could have been, with Drew Pomeranz coming out of Friday nights game early citing tightness in his left forearm, and Jeremy Guthrie injuring his shoulder in a bicycle accident. Both aren’t serious, although Guthrie is being placed on the 15 day DL, making way for Moscoso to pitch tonight in his stead.
Pomeranz played catch today and is expected to work his usual bullpen session on the way to his next start.
The line-up for tonight includes Herrera at first for the second start in a row. Chris Nelson is still nursing a sore hand after a diving play against the Pirates.
2B Marco Sutaro
3B Jonathan Herrera
LF Carlos Gonzalez
SS Troy Tulowitzki
1B Todd Helton
RF Michael Cuddyer
C Wilin Rosario
CF Dexter Fowler
RHP Guillermo Moscoso

I know a lot of the RWO posters are annoyed with Dex, because of his BA, but his outfield defense is the best on the team. Tonight he’s had two good catches so far.
Yes Dexter can make the spectacular play (and I do love that!), however he has displayed a an awful “ole” tendancy while fielding balls on the ground that absolutely drives me crazy!
‘Square your body up to the baseball with both hands while catch it-even drop to a knee to be sure the ball doesn’t get through you’ – at least that is how I was taught to play the outfield fifty some years ago. That frickin’ baseball is not a charging bull for god sakes!
BTW where did all the preseason trash about Cuddyer’s outfield fielding come from anyway, his throws (which were suppose to be excellent) have been off line somewhat, however his range and routes to the baseball have been way better than advertised.
Surprise, surprise! Rox run on contact play in the 4th, Helton is out. At least we’re safe now, nobody on 3rd!
you beat me to it. LOL.
CONTACT PLAY! CONTACT PLAY!
Seriously, with Helton at third with zero outs……you sent him on CONTACT?
Its not that to hard to read a ground all when on 3B. Why does Tracy insist on putting the go on contact play on every time we have a runner third???? You’re giving the other team an out when you do that
HELTON of all people. He’s gonna be out on anything in the infield anyway. So may as well keep him still until the ball is out of the infield.
It might be because it was zero out and i f Helton stayed at third base they would have turned a double play.
I hope this is Dauers last season as the 3rd base coach. He is awful. Move him to first if they wanna keep him on over Hill. Or move Hill to 3rd. But this is just ridiculous.
This is Dauers last seaon only if this is MMJT’s last season.
So annoying when a pitcher consistently gets a batter to a two strike count and can’t put the batter away.
we really gave Smith away, didn’t we?
Just looked. Smith is hitting .185 for Oakland. guess it may come down to how Outman does….
More things that make you go “hmmmmmmm:”
If Aaron Cook isn’t called up by the Red Sox by May 1st, he can opt out of his contract. Once again, jus sayin!
Edwar Cabrera: 7 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 7 K. Now a 1.64 ERA. Making the step up to AA very nicely, thank you.
Well. They had a chance at the end. They need to get this tomorrow. Trying not to put too much weight on this homestand, but I’d really like to see 6-3. We need to get over the 1 over .500 hump. Once we hit 2 or 3 games over I think it will just start to pick up.
Santana pitching tomorrow, and in light of tonight’s lineup and Tracy’s comments I think we’ll see:
Scutaro
Fowler
CarGo
Tulo
Cuddyer
Giambi
Hernandez
Nelson
At least that’s my guess … as far as Sunday lineups go, if that’s what we get I guess I can’t complain.
I guess it would be crazy to ask for
Scutaro
Cargo
Tulo
Giambi
Cuddyer
Hernandez
Fowler
Prog, I actually like that batting order. Of course, you seem to have forgotten to include our sluggin’ third baseman …
The running on contact has to stop. It cost us one run, and maybe more that inning.
Moscoso certainly isn’t showing much promise. Couldn’t we have gotten more for Smith than Moscoso and Outman? Having said that, as Trip points out Smith is having a terrible year. Outman pitched a clean inning at Tulsa and hopefully he will be back to CS soon, and maybe a Rockie before the year is out. With Outman and Putnam it seems that we may have some bullpen replacements when necessary.
Talking about trades, so far I’ll take Colvin over Stewart, who is back to hitting poorly for the Cubs.
Another nice outing by Cabrera. He gets a lot of ground ball outs. He seems to be on the way.
Pacheco had a two hit night tonight. He’s hitting well over .400, and I would expect for him to be a Rockie again before too long.
Hopefully the Rockies can get the win tomorrow.
Just because it’s Sunday-
EY
Colvin
Cargo
Tulo
Gimabi
Hernandez
Herrerra
Nelson
Any of you Stat’s guys know what the Rockies record is with Hernandez catching vs. when Rosario’s catching?
I put alot of my thoughts in the other thread so I won’t repeat them. But last night after Colvin’s triple I would have had Scuturo hit for himself and then if he got on have Giambi pinch hit for Herrerra. That way if Jason hit it out we would win instead of tie. Last night if Giambi had gotten on without hitting a homer, (of course he did neither), you would have needed a pinch-runner for Giambi who would have been the tying run.
I know it’s Sunday but lets win the Series. Fowler has homered in two straight games, so he’ll sit?
