The Rockies will welcome the Seattle Mariners to town tonight in the first of a three-game series to begin their Interleague play.
This three-game series represents the first time the Rockies and Mariners have played an Interleague series since 6/12-14/09, a series the Rockies swept at Coors Field. The Rockies have won six of the last seven games the two teams have played, since 6/30/02 at SEA. Colorado is 12-13 all-time against the Mariners, including 7-4 at Coors Field. The Rockies did play the Mariners in a three game series at the very end of Spring Training and ended up going 1 – 2.

IN GAME CHAT

I’ve updated the Chat board for tonight…i changed the “tweety bird” sound to a Bat Crack…thought it would be more appropriate…kinda fun to have a sound for when someone comments…i really like the new chat platform…
I tried to join the chat but this old guy didn’t do it right so I’ll just ask my question here. Didn’t the Rockies try to sign Millwood on the cheap?
And even my wife knows you don’t make the first or third out at third base.
And throw that fan out.
DrewPo tonight at CS:
5.2 ip, 3h, 4k, 0 runs
So far since being sent down- 11.2 ip, 0 runs
Was at this game. He looked ok
I just love all those shut out innings being wasted at AAA!
Yeah, but he did that in St too and then regressed in real games. If he could just stay healthy maybe we could get an idea what we paid for with U.
We have several other starters that were much much worse while not showing any promise – give Pomeranz a real chance at the MLB – it is not like the Rockies are planning on being in contention in 2012 anyway.
Pitching wasn’t out downfall tonight, hitting was. And of course the little mistakes. The error, Scuturo being thrown out at 3rd.
Good teams find a way to win; bad teams find a way to lose.
Man we suck
I guess that means we are a bad team. Son-in-law asked me what’s wrong. I told him when we pitch well, we don’t hit. When we hit we don’t pitch. And the fielding has stunk ever since the 2nd game of the season. Am I imagining things or are our catchers making more than their share of errors this season?
Millwood wasn’t the only old guy to pitch well tonight. Andy Pettite threw 8 shutout innings against the Reds.
Here is my problem with DanO and the Rockies, and before you say this is just hindsight, I wrote these things on this blog at the time.
First I would have made sure that Mark Ellis resigned as a free agent with the Rockies. You could argue that Scutaro should be the better player, however I think the first part of the season shows that Ellis has been the better baseball value so far.
Second, the Rockies had the perfect pitcher to eat some innings at Coors Field, and again they low balled the offer and lost Millwood through free agency to Seattle. Yep I know that Millwood has been awful so far this season, but he pitched very well last year (last night too) and was probably the best starter the Rockies had in the second half of 2011 (and still better than Guthrie).
My point is that with the extra money that they overpaid Cuddyer, Scutaro and Guthrie, they could have signed Willingham, Ellis AND Millwood for the Rockies for 2012. Cuddyer is a ball player but DanO paid too much and did not spend the dollars where he really should have. And then the Rockies would still have Hammel and Lindstrom to boot to shore up that thin pitching staff.
Watch “the grey” badass movie! I am going to cancel my mlb tv subscription this shit is pathetic
