Either Dexter Fowler needed another rest day, or his lat is acting up. Either way he is missing from tonight’s lineup against Joe Kelly and the Red Birds.
Tonight is the second of four against St. Louis and fans everywhere are hoping to see something better than baseballs equivalent of the keystone cops on the field.
With last nights loss, coupled with wins from the Cubs and the Padres, the Rockies have moved into last place in the NL West, and are tied with the Cubs for the worst winning percentage in the MLB (.380).
If that good ol’ inspirational quote on your grandmothers wall has any bearing, the one about hitting rock bottom before recognizing change or something like that, then perhaps we will see this team come back after the All-Star break ready to take on the world.
Extremely unlikely, but one thing is for sure – when you are the worst, expectations are lower and every win seems a bit better than it really is. Let’s hope tonight will be one of those “wins” we keep hearing about.

I think the hitting rock bottom quote is used in AA too. The Rockies are like staggering drunks run on misplaced loyalty, blind ignorance, and mismanagement that starts at the top. Since we can’t fire the owners the most obvious and immediate need is a new GM. I’d live with manager for life JT (begrudgingly) if they would get rid of DOD tonight.
Funny. Tracy said that Francis said he was done. Francis said I felt fine I could have gone further.
Too purposely be redundant,I am pleased to say for the 3rd time in 2 weeks:Very professional start, leader by example, glad to have him back.I assume Guthrie is being showcased tonight,so if a trade results I think Francis becomes “Ace “of the staff,if only by default.Veteran presence, cool under fire, probably could be streched out by an inning or two on good nights, and as a Canadian is exceeding soft spoken and polite! WE NEED HIM HERE NEXT YEAR!!!
Good win, except it should have been 5-2 or 7-2. Need to push a couple across w/ bases loaded, 2 outs or not.
Back to Prog’s post yesterday, yeah it’s the pits but it is what it is. The BIB needs to resign + a new guy needs to sweep everyone else out. We think this sucks but imagine actually being on the team, riches aside…
That said, what stresses me is I have a hard time believing the team is really this bad. Seems like we should be winning 4 out of 10, 5 out of 10, not 2 out of 10. Shouldn’t we string a couple in a row now + then? Instead of win one, then lose 4? It’s one thing to be bad, another to have no hope. So yeah I think despite a nice win it should have been let’s say 6-2 to compromise.
And by the way I’d take “want’s that one back” over the nickname “Betty” every day of the week.
Ha! You don’t like my nickname Betty???
Noooope. Careful, you’ll get yerself confused w/ Goodman.
