what a joke of a team.
Hey, Prog, look at the bright side. We picked up a game on Houston today.
You know that even if we were to get the #1 pick the Rocks would bungle it. Right now there is no sure-fire star in the draft although that could change. The leader in the clubhouse is that pitcher from Stanford who passed on going to the Pirates. Which ex Rockie pitcher from Stanford was better Greg Reynolds or Jeremy Guthrie?
Mike Mussina was a real good Stanford pitcher and I think (and I may be wrong) Black Jack McDowell went to Stanford as well. Or maybe Elway can still play.
Bill, you forgot Jason Young, another Stanford pitching bust. I see there’s also a Stanford outfielder named Austin Wilson who’s one of the top college players coming into 2013, so O’Dowd will have lots of Stanford options available. Really, no Bryce Harper or Strasburg out there so it probably doesn’t matter much if we have the 1st or 2nd pick. But the downside is there’s no absolutely can’t miss players so far, so the chances of whiffing completely on next years draft are unfortunately pretty good.
I’m now beginning to believe that it is possible the Rockies may part ways with Mr. O’Dowd.
If the Monforts have the business acumen necessary to be sucessful in their real business, then I don’t see how they can possibly go foward with DOD.Of course they could kick him “upstairs”to Kelli MacGregores[sic] vacant position to reward him for a job well done!
Look for the Rox to pick someone they can afford plus sign. Some high school pitcher who’s slotted for the second or third round. And Gary, I think you’re spot on. The BIB deserves to be team president. I mean, why let all that experience with high altitude baseball slip through our fingers?
