[UPDATE FOR SATURDAY]
Hey all, for tonight I’m not going to reserve a room…I reserved one on Wednesday and had a bunch of tables and chairs for Ed, Jeem and myself to use ![]()
Tonight we are looking to just get some tables put together and it looks like RMH, Jeem and possibly Ike plus three and one other…Ed is going to Jersey Boys so probably wont be there…
So, we want to get there a little before 4:00 to eat something and then hang out for a bit…we haven’t made batting practice yet (stupid denver traffic!) and really want to tonight (and try and get an autograph)…that is our plan…eat, hang and batting practice…

=================================
Here is the updated information, based on comments from the gang, on getting together for a little Rox Walk Off gathering before the games:
| LOCATION: | Blake Street Tavern |
| 1 Block N. of Coors | |
| http://www.blakestreettavern.com/ | |
| DATES/TIME: | Wed, August 1st @ 4:30 PM |
| Sat, August 4th @ 4:00 PM |
The game on Wednesday is at 6:50, so that will give us time to eat and hang out for a bit. Saturday’s game is at 6:10.
I’d like to get an idea of how many people so I can set up a reservation. Please let me know if you are planning on going, what day and how many people.

I’m definitely in as long as everyone promises not to stone me. Works out great as I return from Boston on the 31st.
A place? Any ideas? Don’t some of you guys like Jackson’s? Falling Rock has a decent outdoor area…
I am definitely up for it! My favorite place to go before games is Buenos Aires pizzeria on 22nd St. Just a note they are closed Mondays.
http://www.bapizza.com/
But am up for anything of course.
damn…sitting at the game in AZ..and not coming back until Aug 4. If you guys do something before I get in town, EVERYONE better be taking care of our fearless leader!!!! Why too much work for us to ignore the main man!
Go ROX
Steve, I already mentioned you were at Chase and I had been at Petco. I mentioned that in a thread talking about not going to games or “boycotting” the Rockies. Come from FL, I’m use to supporting a fledgling team.
Not only are we still going to games but we are going to games on the road.
Blake Street Tavern is a great place…one block from the right field line…kids are allowed…great food, cold beer.
I’m in. Before or after on Wednesday…before or after Saturday.
Name the place.
I’m up 4 Blake St Tavern on the 4th. Will have some guests with me, too.
Let’s go with that. Blake Street.
That picture is amazing. Only Tulo is still with the team and he was batting 7th.
I was hoping someone would get a kick out of it…i was looking for a straight on shot of the scoreboard that i could mock-up…i was 1/2 the way through and started looking at the players…total kick – funny thing is, i believe I was at that game/series…for years we would go for the Padres series for my wife so she had someone to cheer for
Saw “Taveres” on there + said WOW!
Slick Willy T!
Name the place and I will make an effort to be there depending on how my wife does. She continues to improve.
We would love to see you, but know you have more important things to take care of…maybe I can swing by the hospital and visit?
I like the idea of Blake Street Tavern – have wanted to try that place but never get to it…
So, here are some refining questions:
- before or after?
- wed, sat? Or both if we find some can’t make one but can make the other…
Prog, i do love pizza! Maybe if you will be at one of the other games we can meet before and have that?
I just spoke with BST and it will be easy to get something, either a reservation room or just a bunch of tables set aside for us – so, day and headcount and i’ll lock it up!
From your article you will be doing “family” stuff until the 31st, but will you be free Tuesday night the 31st? I have Guys Night Out ticket for Tuesday’s game vs. the Cardinals. I invite you to come to the game with me since my wife obviously can’t come to the games anymore for a while. Only one ticket, but if something unplanned happens with my wife then you can have my ticket to share with one of your family member (or another RWOer).
I’m in for BST outings unless I am needed by my wife. I will tentatively go to both Wednesday & Saturday. I prefer before the game so I can take the bus to Market Street station to save on parking fees. Still can do the after games, but only until the last bus leaves which is about midnight or bit earlier.
I have told my wife about you, Jaredean, (before the emergency) so she should know who she’s meeting. She is about to be moved from University Hospital – Anschutz Campus to Vibra Hospital in Thornton. Expected to transfer about Tuesday or Wednesday. If you wish to visit, text me and I will tell you where. FYI, it turned out that I saw Prez Obama visit the shooting victim which happened to be two rooms from my wife last Sunday. Managed to get a couple of cell phone pics off over a security detail.
My family will be leaving on Sunday, so we will have the house alone while they are gone and the whole week to work with…i’ve texted you to see about meeting up at the hospital at least and hopefully at BST as well…
Sorry I’ll miss it, will be out of town. Make sure to take lots of pictures of the get-together.
there will be a lot of pics! wish you could make it…
Hey, question for you guys…we want to buy tickets to a couple of the games next week and they are expensive online because of the Ticketmaster fee…do they charge you a fee at the window, and if not can someone buy us some tickets if they are going soon and we can send you money/bring you money for them?
or is there a cheaper way to buy tickets to games?
i tried posting some links to ticket deal, but it needs your mod approval.
also, did you look at green packs yet?
what type seats are you looking for?
There are always tons of tickets from scalpers on Blake below cost.
we thought about scalpers but have tried in the past and didn’t have the best experience/seats/price…i’m sure we got the wrong guy/game…we want to make sure we have tickets in hand so we know…
we also made the mistake of thinking we could “scalp” tickets to games in the past…got stuck with a bunch of unused tickets because it isn’t as easy as you’d think…we bought tickets for the World Baseball Classic twice (2006 and 2009) thinking we could sell the extras to pay for ours…yeah, didn’t get anything for the first games and the second got about 30 cents on the dollar…needless to say, we are horrible scalpers!
Coincedentally got this email today. Might be fun to get group tickets and sit together. Otherwise just meet for food.

thanks for the links! we looked at them and compared to other deals we’ve found (green, family pack, etc.) I think we will be buying what we need today…
I can probably do both Wed + Sat. Thinking pre-game best, esp for Wed.
You guys are making me jealous. I’ll be stuck out here in California with work. Look forward to hearing all about it and seeing the pics as well.
I’m with you Doc…
I’m Jealous….I’ll be here in the desert…and the heat….working. Have a cold one for me! RMH—sending good thoughts to you and your wife…hope she keeps getting better!
I won’t be in Denver that week, but I can agree with others, Jared, that the Blake Street Tavern is an excellent place to meet before a game. I’ve been there many times and you can certainly bring the kids to a place that seems as much a restaurant as a bar.
Leeme see if I can find my TARDIS and get back to you.
Ok, I updated the info above to reflect the dates/times…we can adjust them, but thought a couple of hours before first pitch to eat and hang would be good…i’m up for longer, but shorter wouldn’t give enough time…plus parking will be easier to find earlier!
So, if i can get an idea of who is coming and how many people then I can make a reservation…Please comment here with your plans…
Might want to update the month to August above. I havent seen Doc Brown in years to borrow the time machine.
I’m in for both times.
I’m definitely in for Saturday August 4th. About 75 percent chance for August 1st. (Not definitely in but really want to come.)
While on this subject, will any of you be at the September 1 game against the Padres? I will be flying into Denver that weekend for a wedding and will get to go to the game on Saturday. Blake Street Tavern is likely for me.
Ok, still trying to get a little better idea on who to expect at the pre-game gathering…From the comments above here is what i’ve “gleaned”:
Jeem: At both Wed and Sat. Not sure if just you or more people.
Prog: Coming, but don’t know what day(s) or how many
Ed: Coming, but not exactly sure which days, how many
Sabr: Coming Saturday with Friends, but not sure how many
RMH: Saturday for sure, maybe Wed
Keep the details coming so i can get a little better idea of how many and get some tables together for us…i’ll be there with my family, so 5 of us, and they are all excited to meet the gang that makes this season one step above depressing!
J…
Coming Wednesday, pregame for sure. NOT after game.
Saturday is 50/50…Going to Jersey Boys so am trying to talk others into going to Blake Street pre-play…maybe yes, maybe no.
Definitely see you Wednesday…I’ll have your tix with me then.
See ya.
Excellent my friend, see you then.
I’ve not been checking in for a few days and missed this whole thread. I should be able to drop by on Sat. There is three of us. Also Jaredean, did you get tickets? If not, we should chat.
Excellent! See you Sat!
RMH hooked me up for tonight and Ed hooked me up for Sat…we bought the other games. Thanks for your thought, I’ll let you know if there is a snag. We do need to buy a single tickets for Thursday and Friday because the Coca-Cola Value Pack are only four tickets and we are five people. But, we will just buy nosebleeds and then have my son sit on my lap.
Sorry Jared, wasn’t checking this post and barely had any cell reception where my friend lives in Mass: Northboro, home of the late lamented Mark the Bird Fidrych.
Probably too late, but I am a solo act.
Have fun all! Maybe the group will bring some luck to our poor ol Rockies!
Ok guys, Blake Street Tavern Party Room tonight. See you there!
Tonight? Thought it was Saturday the 4th…
Never mind, that was a post before Wednesday’s gathering…
Hey all, for tonight I’m not going to reserve a room…I reserved one on Wednesday and had a bunch of tables and chairs for Ed, Jeem and myself to use

cool?
We won’t arrive until after 4pm. How much I am not sure, but hopefully we make it in time to at least meet.
JD…hope you all have a good time.
Don’t be a “black cat” with my tix. The Rox ALWAYS play very well when I’m sitting in them!!
Hi to all the RWOers at BST.
I’d like to blame Jared, but it’s not like a home loss is unexpected these days…
We can only continue to credit JDB for his passion, as well as for this site.
Blame lies elsewhere…
No disrespect intended, Ags. Re-read my post and thought “umm, printed word doesn’t always come across correctly”.
I share your sentiment.
Steve, no offense taken. I think we all agree that Jared and this site is one of the few really good things about this Rockies season.
I wish I could make it but had some stuff come up this weekend. Hope to do it next year. Have a great time!
We are sitting first table at the entrance.
Hope you guys are having fun!!! Sitting having a cold one watching on the couch!
Was Finn ING too late to make it. Bummer
Hope you guys had fun. And I hope you do it again during a week when I can make it. Watching tonight, just remember this: the Best GM in Baseball preferred Casey Weathers (8th pick overall) to Madison Bumgarner (10th). And you wonder why we’re so awful.
Jack and George talking about what a great guy Giants 3B coach Tim Flannery is. I used to live in San Diego, and folks love him there. Never a bad word about him, and a good baseball guy. Yet he’s never managed at the big league level. Now why can’t we go after a guy like that as our manager next year?
TV guys praising CarGo for sliding to catch a foul ball that he could’ve easily caught if he’d stayed on his feet — at the risk of running into the low wall along the 3B line. I’d like to think that if we were playing meaningful games that CarGo would’ve gone all out for that one. But given the way things are going, CarGo made the right choice by taking the safe route.
Oh, and Manager for Life apparently thought it was a good idea to double switch and stick Rosario at 3B with predictable results. Best GM in Baseball could just stick Arenado there to give us SOMETHING worth watching, but Arenado must be punished for not running out a ground ball, even though that is becoming epidemic on the big club. (Not that Arenado has shown he deserves the promotion, but hey, neither did Bryce Harper)
