With one last chance to spoil at least a little bit of the Giants momentum, the Rockies will take to Coors field at 6:40 P.M.  Hopefully the game will be played with the forecast showing showers and thunderstorms developing around 5pm. Cloudy with temperatures steady in the mid 50s. Winds E at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 85%.

Tonight is the final game of a very brief 3-game homestand before the team heads back out on the road for 7.  There are only eight more home games remaining in this dismal 2012 season.  Additionally, the Rockies off day on Thursday will be the club’s only in the month of September, and the last off day the Rockies have this season.

Tonight will be the teams 21st rubber match of the season.  The Rockies are 6-14 in rubber games this season, including 4-5 at home.

• Veteran left-hander Jeff Francis will make his 20th start of the season for the Rockies tonight.  Francis is 7-7 with a 5.19 ERA (102.1 ip, 59 er) in 17 career starts against the Giants.
• Right-hander Tim Lincecum will make his 30th start of 2012 tonight for the Giants.  Lincecum is 9-7 with a 3.67 ERA (132.1 ip, 54 er) in 21 career starts against the Rockies.

This series represents the fifth of six series between the two teams this season. The Rockies will finish their season series against the Giants with a 4-gamer at AT&T Park 9/17-20. The Rockies are now 2-6 in eight home games vs. SF in 2012, and the Giants are 9-4 vs. COL this season. The Rockies are looking for their first series win against the Giants since sweeping a 2-game set at Coors Field 5/16-17/11.

The Rockies collected 17 hits in last night’s 9-8 loss.  The 17 hits were the most the Rockies have had since the club also had 17 hits on 7/21 at SD.  The 17 hits are the most in a loss since the Rockies had 20 hits in a loss on 9/2/10 vs. PHI.  The Rockies have collected double-digit hits in each of the first two games of this series, as well as seven of the club’s last eight home games, since 8/27.

Since the All-Star break, the Rockies own the National League’s third highest team batting average, with a mark of .275 (530-for-1926).

I sure am glad we got rid of that bum Scutaro. He’ll never amount to anything.

Yeah, and we should count ourselves blessed we got Charlie Culberson in return – that kid is tearing it up!!!

I know you’ve stated in the past that you weren’t happy with us giving him up and I have always really wanted him to do well here – he was the player i was most excited about from the winter trades…i just questioned his brain on some plays he “made” at times with us and my wife HATED him…

it is just another example of players leaving us and doing well elsewhere…sux, but reality.

Unfortuately he was just heating up when we traded him.Honestly, after playing meaningful games in the pressure cooker AL East, I think the lousy start of the Rox may have taken some getting used too.I two thought he made some boneheaded plays, but to get nothing for him still makes no sense to me.

Should never have traded for him in the first place. Even though he’s doing great for SF, I am really glad we traded him because we have seen that DJ can handle himself quite well at second.
