The Dbacks made Jon Garland look like a Little League pitcher and Pat Corbin made the Rockies hitters look like Little Leaguers. The final score was a 5-0 job on the Rockies by the Dbacks. The highlight of the game was FGH taking the television viewers on a tour of the new press box and cafeteria. Garland had a line of 11 hits, five runs, a walk, and two wild pitches. ... [MORE]

Rox in Battle of Arizona in NL West War

Posted by rockymountainhigh on May 20th, 2013 in Game Day

After coming back to take the series from the Giants 3-1, the Rockies continue their battle in the NL West war. In best case scenario, there will be a three-way tie atop the NL West division and in the worse case scenario, the Dbacks will lead the Giants & Rockies by two games. The Rox have a tall order tonight going up against Ty Corbin who is 6-0 with a 1.52 ... [MORE]

For the second straight game, the Rockies played a clean game to take the game (5-0 score) and series (3 of 4). The only errors of the game were Dex Fowler's attempt to steal 3rd base with no outs and 3-0 count on CarGo, Josh Rutledge's error in the 6th inning, and Jon Herrera's throw that sailed into the seats on a grounder in the 8th inning. The series win ... [MORE]

It was a seesaw game that looked similar to Thursday night's fugly loss. This time the Rockies came out on top of the Giants 10-9. The Gnats jumped out to a quick four-run lead mid second inning. Then the Rox took advantage of four errors in one inning to knot the score at 4-4 after three innings. As usual the Giants immediately reclaimed the lead 5-4 after four innings. After ... [MORE]

Will the Real Rockies stand up please?

Posted by rockymountainhigh on May 17th, 2013 in Game Day

Last night the Rox played like studs for four innings.  Then they played like duds over the last five innings letting the Giants pull the carpet from underneath them winning 8-6 after spotting the purple pin stripers a 6-0 lead.  The Rox produced only one harmless single the rest of the night after the three run homer by Wilin Rosario. Madison Bumgarner will bring the heat tonight.  The Rockies must find ... [MORE]

For the second consecutive game, the Rockies beat themselves, this time by a score of 4-2. With the loss they dropped to 15-10 overall, 3-4 vs. the D-backs, and 6-7 on the road. The Rockies put in a workmanlike effort to even the four-game series 1-1 at Chase Field. The Rockies drew the first blood with two runs in the first inning. After Pacheco and Gonzalez hustled smartly to move up the bases on a deep fly to center by Tulo, Cuddyer delivered a 2-out, 2-run single. The defense started to get wobbly in the second inning. After a solo shot by Eric Chavez ... [MORE]

Rockies Attempt to Heat Up in Desert

Posted by rockymountainhigh on April 26th, 2013 in Game Day

The pitching staff continued to keep the team in the game last night surrendering only three runs, but the hitters failed to support their pitchers.  Tonight Juan Nicasio will attempt to keep the Snakes from biting us in the rears.  The lineup tonight is similar to Opening Day except that Reid Brignac takes the place of Josh Rutledge at second base. The season record away from Coors Field now stands at ... [MORE]

Didi Gregorius keys Arizona offense

The Rockies let Arizona make a late rally with three runs over the last two innings.  They jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning when Juan Nicasio, Eric Young Jr, Jordan Pacheco, and Carlos Gonzalez strung together four consecutive singles. Nicasio struggled with command of the strike zone throwing 85-plus pitches after four innings issuing three walks but zero hits.  Everyone could see it coming that Arizona would ... [MORE]

Jhoulys Chacin and Ian Kennedy stared each other down to see who would blink first throwing efficiently and quickly through the first three innings. It turned out that it was Kennedy who blinked first, giving up a two-run homer to Troy Tulowitzki in the fourth inning following a Josh Rutledge walk. That stood up in a 3-1 Rockies victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NL West battle. An insurance run ... [MORE]
