I hope Jon Gray is being given a legit chance. I’d love to see him begin his ML career as one of the long guys in the Pen. A Pen of Hawk, Zero, Brothers (I think he’ll bounce back to some extent), Logan, Ax, Kahnle, and Gray + Hale as long guys has real potential except for weakness at Closer. Hold Freidrich in waiting in ABQ for back-up loogy role. Hold Jairo Diaz in ABQ for backup to Ax, Kahnle.… Read more »

Friedrich can’t be sent down, he’s out if options. If he doesn’t make team out of ST he’d have to clear waivers before he can be sent down. Doubt he clears, someone would claim him. He either makes team or we lose him.

Good info – that may change the equation a bit.

Was watching the MLB guys yesterday and they we’re, understandably, scratching their heads at the Rox lack of motion in the off-season, compared to the rest of the division. The obvious agreement amongst them was, yeh, the Rox will probably be in 1st place on May 1, like always. And while the Friars and Bums were making quite the noise, all the conversation for the Purple People Beaters hinged upon what we already know regarding the health of our “superstars.”… Read more »

If we assume that the starting rotation is DLR, Chacin, Matzek, Lyle, and Kendrick, and that the bullpen is at least Hawkins, Ottavino, Logan, Brothers, Kahnle, and Friedrich, plus one or two more, there are a lot of other pitchers in the loop for not many spots. Which of our pitchers could start the year in AAA? Gray, Butler, and Bergman still have options and could start in AAA. What about Hale? What about the guy we got for Rutledge?… Read more »

David Hale – 2 options
Jairo Diaz – 3 options
Yohan Flande – 1 option – not currently on 40 man roster
Brooks Brown – 3 options
Chris Rusin – 1 option
Rex Brothers – 3 options

Bullpen lefties:
Brothers, Friedrich, Logan and Rusin

As listed above there are 7 NRIs including Flande.

Friedrich = out of options. Brothers = 3 options left. For the LOOGY role, assuming Logan is healthy, it’s looking like Friedrich is in the driver’s seat. Rex, Albuquerque can be a wonderful town in April and May …

If the Rockies were going to send Brothers down, they should have done so last year. I really don’t think they will use up an option year on him this year either.

Unless he sucks like last year.Good to know there are options where a trip to AAA might get him right.Friedrich might clear waivers if it comes to that-than back to AAA.

Once again, good information. Someone noted last week that Freidrich is out of options, but it’s nice to know the entire bullpen “option” situation. Given that Brothers has 3 remaining, I’m with Ag, make him prove without a doubt he’s ready or break Camp with Freidrich and send Brothers to the ‘Topes and hold in reserve.

I for one am excited that ST is here, regardless of the Rox prognosis.

Understanding Bridich: Does He Have a Theory? On the surface, he seems as confused as O’Dowd. Make a move here to build for the future, make a move there to make the team incrementally better in 2015. So let’s give him the benefit of the doubt. Here’s 3 things he seems committed to: 1. Starters who eat innings. We saw where Brett Anderson got us. I like the idea of the high risk/high upside guy for a team like the… Read more »
