3 weeks ago I thought we were decent. I saw some bright spots in a .500 team. But now I don’t see much at all.

How much worse can it get?

Swept by the mariners at home, losing 4 straight being 10 games under .500 nothing to show us fans any hope of recovery, helton looking finished, tulo struggling, starting rotation is terrible, bullpen overworked, terrible defence bonehead plays, tracy not admitting to his mistakes , terrible offseason planning by O’Dowd put all this together, and you realise how bad our rockies are from the bottom to the top, CLEANHO– USEE!!!

Luckily I only watched a few innings. I saw the double bonehead play with both Rosario and Scuturo making bad throws. And both made bad decisions by throwing the ball in the first place. Of course that didn’t matter because “Big Game” Guthrie came through again. And by the way I believe Jason Hammel is 5-1. I didn’t like Hammel when he was here but maybe it wasn’t him as much as our beloved pitching coach. We’ve spent quite a… Read more »

Lets look at the straight trades the Rockies made this past offseason, rather than the swap in positions as with the post earlier this weekend. Colvin for Stewart. +1 in favor of Rockies. Only positive in the offseason, and not a big plus. Ianetta for Chatwood. -1 so far. Yes I know Chris has been injured, but doesn’t mean he would have been here. So far, Hernandez is not an improvement over Chris. Chatwood has ‘potential’, meaning he hasn’t helped… Read more »

And last years off season just as bad if not worse.Few GM’s last as long as DOD has while producing such limited results.I don’t mind waiting till next year but I expected .500 this year.At times we resemble the ’62 Mets![and yes I’m that old,and a former N.Y Stater].

The Rox can go no lower…this is the absolute bottom. That is, until they prove me wrong and get even worse. Not sure that is possible.

Could get swept my a preety good Marlins team.Would that qualify or do we have to wait for a sweep by the Royals?

DRH, I agree that DOD gets a failing grade for the offseason, although I might describe it a little differently. It was actually Stewart and Weathers for Colvin and LeMahieu. So, maybe we’ll get a little more out of the deal if LeMahieu develops into a major leaguer. I think that it’s too soon to judge Ianetta for Chatwood. That will depend on whether Chatwood develops into a major league starting pitcher. We should be able to judge this trade… Read more »

Like I said about a million times before the trade, with Todd aging play Cuddy at 1B against righties and Smith in LF. Or you could play Smith, CarGo, and Cuddyer in the OF and Colvin at 1B.

I can’t believe how eager DOD was to dump Seth. Maybe he saw Smith as the source of the losing attitude – yeah how did that turn out?

Had great seats by third base today. We had a guy there once. Best part of today was that I made a movie of the signing beer guy.

that, of course, would be the singing beer guy.

I think we are officailly the worst team in baseball. We just got swept by the F*****G Mariners at Coors F*****G Field!!!!!!!! This team sucks ass! FIRE TRACY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok rant is over 🙂

Does anyone really think that the problem with this team is related to a lack of talent? I don’t think so. This team has already quit on Tracy and it isn’t the end of May yet. They have quit just like they quit in Sept of 2010 and 2011. At this point the best that can happen is for them to go to Miami and Cinci and get swept in both cities and come home on a 10 game losing… Read more »

“We also got Outman as part of the Smith deal, so we need to see if Outman turns into an asset before grading the deal. Having said that, I would have thought that we could have gotten more for Smith, or kept him and platooned him with a right handed hitter.’ Julian, that’s the weird thing about trading Smith and signing Cuddyer. It would have been far, far cheaper to find Smith a platoon partner to play RF. Then they… Read more »

They are words said all the time when a manager or head coach is fired…”we wanted to go in a different direction.” I always thought that’s what every teams says, can’t they come up with something more original? Well, what I wouldn’t give for the Monforts to finally utter those words. The Rockies do indeed need to go in a different direction. I don’t know precisely what that new direction should encompass, but it’s pretty damn obvious the current one… Read more »

GIAMBI NEEDS TO START AT 1st BASE!!!!

I know this will never happen but it should!! Giambi needs to start at 1st base!! HIs at bats have been VERY productive this year and Todd looks like he needs a break. Then this team would have a true cleanup hitter. I think Todd needs a 15 day disabled list break.

“Then this team would have a true cleanup hitter.”

Great idea. But even if Giambi plays, stubborn MMJT will still bat FOPO Tulo 4th.

The only time this team responded to Tracy was when he first took over. And what did he do? He let the boys play. Since then? Tinker, tinker, over-think, and tinker some more. Bless his heart, but Jim Tracy can’t get out of his own way. I mean, how can a manager show off his masterful strokes of genius if he’s got a solid team in place? Whenever someone does well, “Take a seat meat before you get comfortable.” The… Read more »

Firing JT is NOT going to fix squat. Just my opinion.

For all those that live and die by stats then hopefully you got to see the national talking head show that clearly demonstrated where the Rockies problem lies. STARTING ROTATION … at least according to them.

Do you think that firing Hurdle back in ’09 didn’t make a difference?

Mike Raysfan

Sure it made a difference. Short term. Now you want him fired? If that is what you want, an immediate short term fix, then I guess firing JT *might* be your answer. Just keep firing managers every couple of seasons?

Firing the manager is NOT going to right the ship and I truely believe this.

I go back to ITR and the names I listed way back then as root cause.

I see the offense as a major problem. If you normalize out the 2 ridiculuous 17/18 run games out of the equation it drops the Runs per game from 6.4 down to around 4.1.

4 runs a game when you play half your games at Coors wouldn’t be enough if you had the Tigers or Rangers rotation.

13 ouf of 40 games the offense has scored 2 runs or less. Hey, but they will hit, right?

Miketober

They will hit when the weather warms up, unless it’s too humid that is, and Tulo never hits before June or July, and it has to be a day game, and Jupiter and Saturn have to be in conjunction.

prog, I went to 3 games in which the Rockies scored 19 runs and lost all 3.

I recall reading somewhere about the time of the Hurdle firing that switching managers for the most part do not improve or worsen the team over long term. But sometimes a change is needed to execute a U-turn on the season.

Give Terry Francona or Joe Torre a call.

It’s so painful to watch these ’62 Mets…er ’12 Rox. Saturday was the first time I’ve left a Rox game early in the 20 years I’ve been going to see them. Turned the TV on Sunday just in time to see Guthrie become a losing pitcher w/o getting out of the first inning…click. The players need a wakeup call. How many pitchers has Bob Apodaca helped? Same with Carney Lansford. Who’s improved under his tutelage? And howz that resting Todd… Read more »

Fell asleep watching the real life version of the “Bad News Bears.”

Changes are coming in the lineup today – really?

Cuddy-Tulo-Helton 4-5-6 in the lineup today. That’s not a “change” enough for me.

Please wake me up next spring as I’m hiberating until next spring. Do wake me up earlier if you see heads rolling.

Saberchip sorry for your loss. Know what you are going through. My Dad passed away in December, my Mom is in hospice care (at least it’s in her home). Remember the good times.

Tulo will homer tonight, and cuddyer, but my prediction is rox will still lose

From CBS Sports:
“We are in a helluva rut right now,” manager Jim Tracy said. “We are going to have to dig our ourselves out. Nobody likes it. It’s no fun to go through it. There is no finger pointing going on.”

….. perhaps the clubhouse is starting to crack we will soon see

This would be my lineup: EYJ 2B Fowler CF Cargo LF Giambi 1B Cuddyer RF Tulo SS Hernandez C Pacheco 3B BUT IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN!!!! EVER!!!! I am losing interest, or should I say I have lost interest in current lineup. Scutaro is lame!!! Todd looks hurt and old!!! 3rd Base is aweful!!! EYJ/Fowler combo could be fun to watch, Giambi is a cleanup hitter, and Tulo could swing freely and easy from the 6th spot.

My lineup for tonight would be

1.EYJ
2.Scutaro
3.Gonzalez
4.Cuddyer
5 Tulo
6.Giambi
7.Pacheco
8.Rosario
9. Moyer
