NEW FENCE.

How many home runs have been lost to the rightfield fence at the bullpen? I think Story has had 3 taken away.  Nolan 1 today that would have tied the game.  A couple of others.  Does anybody have the total? And, how do we feel about the fence now?  W

FIRE BRIDICH! I thought I’d give this its own sound-off thread since there may be substantial disagreement … My case: a while back I listed all of Bridich’s free agent signings, big and small, since he took over as GM. There are exactly 3 free agents – all cheapo short-term or minor league contract signings – who are in the black as far as WAR goes: Cargo (free agent 2018/1 year deal), Mark Reynolds (2016/minor league contract), Chris Rusin (same).… Read more »

These are the moves he made. I’m on board the “fire Bridich” train for these reasons, but also because he HASN’T made critical needed moves.

Carp – Dan Szymborski (now at fangraphs) is always one of the best analysts – and most amusing commenters – on player moves. And his summary of NL trade deadline deals this year amounts to this: both the Dodgers and the Dbacks increased their playoff chances by about 7 % each through deadline deals. The Rockies? We saw our playoff chances DECREASE by 7 %. They got better, we … stayed about the same. Simple as that. I don’t get… Read more »

And after the 2018 season is complete (playoffs or not), DJ LeMahieu will be a FA. He’ll sign with another team. We’ll have nothing to show for it. Now, if we had no other 2nd base options, this would be understandable. But……we do. DJ could have been flipped for an upper Minor League pitcher(s) that have Relief potential. Can’t have enough of those types.

Compare to Milwaukee Brewers:
1. Signed Lorenzo Cain as FA.
2. Traded for Christian Yelich.
3. Traded for Joakim Soria.
4. Traded for Mike Moustakas.
5. Traded for Jonathan Schoop.
6. Signed Boone Logan as a FA in the offseason, and then released him June 24th because he sucked. Sunk cost be damned.

These are just 6 “big” moves.

Yep – I just listed the “big” moves. They have signed and DFA’d Eric Sogard at least twice!
